Young Pi Ayush Tandon signs biopic on scientist Hirji Patel

The younger protagonist in 'Life Of Pi' will learn how to stammer for his upcoming act

While Suraj Sharma may have stolen all the thunder as Pi in Ang Lee's latest Oscar winner, Ayush Tandon, who played the younger protagonist, has apparently signed his second film. It's a bilingual on scientist Hirji Patel's life and the film will be shot in India, Kenya and England.

The Vasai-based young actor will essay a role that requires him to stammer. And Ayush has been taking lessons for his act in the biopic. Despite facing severe communication issues, Patel went on to become UK's top avionics graduate and eventually one of the youngest missile scientists before becoming an entrepreneur.

Ayush, who was 12 while filming for Lee's film, will be turning 15 in July. Says Ayush's father Hatinder Tandon, `He'll be shooting in April right after his final exams. It's a three-week schedule and we are sure it won't affect his vacation.

Besides, he's very excited about the film and is already taking workshops in order to portray a kid with stammering problems. He plays this kid who is introduced to self-learning methods. We agreed to the project because it's an inspiring story.`
