This year
marks the 100 years of Indian cinema and it’s going to be a double
whammy for some stars, as their big releases complete 25 years at the
same time. The year 1988 was a treat for cinema lovers with big-ticket
movies such as Anil Kapoor’s Tezaab, Rekha’s Khoon Bhari Maang (KBM),
Amitabh
Bachchan’s Shahenshah and Aamir Khan’s debut film, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (QSQT).
Anil
Kapoor was visibly thrilled to see that his Mr India (1987) and Tezaab
are still remembered by his fans. “It has been really a long, long time
(since the films released). But I don’t attach myself with any of my
work. I believe in moving on to the next. Yes, there are good memories
from when we were working on these films, but that’s about it. I am
happy that Mr India has such a high recall value and Tezaab was a big
success, but I have never taken anything that seriously,” says Anil.
Rakesh Roshan, who has lost count of the years since his film KBM hit the theatres, is, however, planning to take story forward. “I just watched it again yesterday. Time flies so fast. After my directorial debut, Khudgarz (1987), I wanted to make something different. So I made KBM with Rekha and Sonu Walia, who was new in the industry, and cast Kabir Bedi. It was a combination which would look fresh. I made the film with passion and everyone working on it was so involved in it. The movie did very good business and was the most talked about film of that time,” says Rakesh.
Another star who made his debut in 1988 and has now achieved the pinnacle of success is Aamir Khan.
He is planning a bash with the cast and crew of QSQT, to celebrate this
special anniversary. In a recent interview to a publication Juhi
Chawla, who was the female lead in the film, confirmed the party. “I am
looking forward to it. It would be great fun to meet the cast and crew. I
have met Aamir and Imran (Khan) at functions, but we haven't ever sat
down and chatted. (sic)”

Actor to throw a big party to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of his debut film

March 1, 1988, two fresh faced debutants took their first tentative
steps in Bollywood. When Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (QSQT) released that
year, lead actors Aamir Khan
and Juhi Chawla were instantly catapulted to the A-list of the industry
and became household names almost overnight. Now, come Monday, April
29, Aamir will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of his debut film
with the film’s team.
A source close to Aamir says, “On Monday, the entire cast and crew of QSQT will head to Lightbox (producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s preview theatre) to watch the movie. The entire team, right from all the actors to the assistant directors — who Mansoor (Khan, director) had to personally find and get in touch with to invite them to the party — will be present there.” The evening promises to be special as the whole team will be come together for the screening after 25 years.
The source goes on to add that the party will go on even after the screening. “After the screening, the party will move on to NH Bungalow (the late Nasir Hussain’s home, where actor Imran Khan now lives),” the source adds.
When contacted, an official spokesperson from the QSQT team confirmed this development.

When congratulated on his 1988 hit Shahenshah completing 25 years, in the same year that Indian cinema completes 100, Amitabh Bachchan was visibly elated by the news.
The actor who was already a superstar after the big success of his films such as Deewar (1975), Zanjeer (1975), Sholay (1975) and Don (1978), got a new moniker ‘Shahenshah’ with this film. Bachchan lived up to his title, which means emperor in Urdu, ruling the film industry with hits such as Agneepath (1990) and Hum (1991) in the ’90s and of late he showed his acting prowess with diverse roles in films like Black (2005), Sarkar (2005) and Paa (2009). The star will be seen in a Hollywood film, The Great Gatsby, later this year.

in Bollywood. However, his run-ins with the law haven’t impacted his
career and Salman has emerged as an entertaining actor of his
generation.
In the last few years, Salman’s success has reached phenomenal proportions. Starting from Wanted (2009), his long line of blockbusters includes Dabangg (2010), Ready (2011), Bodyguard (2011), Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and the recently-released Dabangg 2 (2012).
