Actor Rajesh Khanna
received India's third-highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan on March
20. The award that was given to the actor, who died on July 18 last
year, was collected by his wife Dimple Kapadia. The ceremony also saw
the presence of their eldest daughter Twinkle Khanna.
Other popular names from the showbiz industry who were conferred
with the Padma Shree awards included Lt. Jaspal Bhatti, Nana Patekar,
Bollywood film maker Ramesh Sippy and Kashmiri classical musician Ustad
Ghulam Mohammed Saznawaz,
While industrialist Adi Godrej and boxer Mary Kom received the
Padma Bhushan, artist S H Raza received India's second-highest civilian
award Padma Vibhushan.
The awards were given away by President Pranab Mukherjee. The first
batch of awards were distributed on April 5, when actresses Sharmila
Tagore and Sridevi, and cricketer Rahul Dravid collected their awards.
The ceremony saw the
presence of PM Manmohan Singh, wife Gursharan Kaur, Congress president
Sonia Gandhi and several other popular names.

Ritu Kumar, the 69-year-old designer, who is popular for her unique style, was also awarded Padma Shri by the President.
