Unseen pictures of legendary singer Shamshad Begum

The entire Indian cinema is in a state of shock due to the demise of the legendary playback signer Shamshad Begum, who gave voice to popular songs like Mere Piya Gaye Rangoon, Kabhi Aar Kabhi Paar. She passed away at her Mumbai residence on Tuesday. The 94-year old legendary singer has not been keeping well for the past few months and was even admitted to a hospital in Mumbai.
"She was not keeping well for past few months and was admitted to the hospital. She passed away on Tuesday night. The funeral was a solemn affair with a few friends present," a leading website had quoted Begum's daughter Usha as saying. 
Shamshad was known as one of the first playback singers in Bollywood. Born in Amritsar, Begum made her debut as a singer with Peshawar Radio in 1947. In 2009, Shamshad Begum received the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian honour.
