Abbas-Mustan’s ‘Race 2’ to cross 100 crore mark




Abbas Mustan’s thriller ‘Race 2’ continue to rule at the domestic box-office. The film which opened with average reviews and mixed responses from the audience are likely to cross the 100 crore mark at the box-office in just seven days.

The movie collects 15 crores on the first day and in the first weekend earned around Rs 51.35 crores. Suddenly, its collection dropped down and again on Wednesday it picked up and collected Rs 21 crores on weekdays making its domestic collection to Rs 72.35 crores nett. In foreign countries like USA, UK, UAE, Australia and New Zealand, ‘Race 2’ is going a good business and it even beat Kamal Hassan’s latest release ‘Vishwaroopam’.

However in just six days, ‘Race 2’ collected Rs 94.61 crores nett at the worldwide Box Office. Today is going to be the seventh day and trade analyst feels that if on Thursday the film makes another 1 crore in the international market and can make 5.5 crores at the domestic market then the movie would make a total sum of Rs 101.11 crores. ‘Race 2’ is the first blockbuster of 2013.

‘Race 2’ is a sequel to 2008 blockbuster ‘Race’ which stars Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez, John Abraham, Anil Kapoor and Ameesh patel in the pivotal role.
The makers are also planning ‘Race 3’ with Saif Ali Khan but nothing has yet been decided.
