Kamal Hassan is going through tough phase in his life for his latest release ‘Viswaroopam’. The film release was put on hold on various parts of the country. It left the film industry with anguish. The Madras High Court’s verdict on Wednesday to put a stay on the film release which comes to an utter disappointment for the film fraternity. Following the verdict, Kalam Hassan said that he will move to the Supreme Court. He was highly depressed but the actor got supports from his fans and also the Hindi film industry stand by Kamal at this tough time. His friend and south superstar Rajinikanth also lands him support and asked his Muslim fans to withdrawn the ban and enjoy the movie.
Kamal Hassan also found support in Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. Khan took to Twitter to extend support to Haasan. He posted an image to Twitter that read, “Respect art, respect artist, respect the audience. I support Kamal Haasan,” and tweeted, “Censor board has passed it too naaa(sic),” adding, “Sure . 100% gonna see it(sic).”
The Bollywood superstar also said that the audience should decide whether or not a movie is good. He tweeted, “Dekho yaar its a movie n thr r only 2 kinds of movies good or bad. hit n flop N only people who decide r 1s who buy tickets(sic).”
The film was banned in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Certain sections moved against the film, they claimed that the film shows Muslim in bad light.
Kamal Hassan was highly shocked with the allegations. He said, “I have been ruthlessly used as a vehicle by small groups who seek political profile. Icon bashing is a great way to be noticed when you are not one yourself. It is happening again and again. Any neutral and patriotic Muslim will surely feel pride on seeing my film. It was designed for that purpose.”
He added, “I am not only hurt by these accusations of denigrating a community but my sensibilities are truly insulted. Now I will rely on law and logic to come to our support. This kind of cultural terrorism will have to stop.”
He added that he has screen his film for Muslim fans and gave positive response. He also thanked his fans who lent their support to him. He said, “I have always gone beyond the call of my duty as an actor to voice my opinion in favor of what was humane and civil. I have been part of an organization called Harmony India which worked for Hindu-Muslim amity.”
