Sadashiv Amrapurkar assaulted for protesting water waste on Holi

Veteran Bollywood actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar was allegedly assaulted by some men on Wednesday afternoon as he protested against water wastage for Holi celebrations at Versova in Mumbai.

"When I stopped them, they told me this is our private property and we can do whatever we like. Who are you to stop us? Five to six men came and surrounded me. They were drunk. I tried to scream but I could not do anything. No one from my society came out to help," Amrapurkar was quoted as saying on a TV channel.

A case has been registered based on the complaint at the Versova police station, said reports.

The actor, known for his negative roles, especially as villain, stays in a housing society Versova.

On noticing his neighbouring housing society members wasting water to celebrate the festival, he reportedly informed a local TV channel.

On a day when most of the Mumbaikars chose to play a dry Holi which was almost part of a campaign, Amrapurkar's action allegedly angered a few residents of the neighbouring housing society.
