Javed Akhtar’s Wife and Ex Wife Unwell

Javed Akhtar is quite distressed these days. His family is facing troubled times as both his wife Shabana Azmi and ex wife Honey Irani are unwell.
Last week veteran actress Shabana Azmi fractured her wrist in South Africa. She underwent a surgery but her wrist bone did not heal properly. Coming to India, she was admitted at Lilavati hospital in Mumbai. She is expected to get back home in a couple of days.
On the other hand, Honey Irani fell ill due to a sudden thyroid attack. Her condition worsened so much so that son Farhan Akhtar was contemplating cancelling all his promotional schedules for his upcoming movie ‘Bhag Milkha Bhag’. Though later Farhan confirmed that her mother was recovering fast, he is planning to take his mother to US for treatment.
Honey Irani has been associated to Bollywood since childhood. She appeared in a number of movies as a child actor. Later she went into scriptwriting. She has written scripts for a number of movies. The prominent ones are ‘Krishh 3’, ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, ‘Kya Kehna’ among others. She also tried her hands at film directing. She directed 2003 released movie ‘Armaan’.
Honey was married to lyricist Javed Akhtar

Javed Akhtar . Both of them were very good friends. According to Honey it was humor that saw both of them to be good friends long after their divorce. Both Javed and Honey share a good camaraderie even after their divorce. Honey had once told, “But definitely, Javed and I are better friends now than we were as a couple. We share certain things today, which we never did before. We’re in touch. Javed is still concerned about me. He calls me up every day.” They got married in 1972 and separated in 1978. Javed Akhtar married Shabhan Azmi in 1984. They do not have children. Shabana Azmi made her debut as an actress in 1974 and since then there was no looking back. Shabana revealed in an  interview, “After 27 years of marriage, you get so intertwined with each other that it's impossible not to do that. And it's the same with him. In fact, Javed has even written a poem, titled Shabana, which talks precisely about this.”

“The time we spend together, watching movies, listening to music-those are far more precious to me than any solitaires", said Shabana.
Javed and Shabana share a cordial relation with Honey. Even Honey and Javed’s kids, Farhan and Zoya, get along well with Shabana.
