Rumi Jaffery: I was saved because of early detection

Writer-director Rumi Jaffery is at the Dhirubhai Kokilabhen hospital recovering from dengue fever.

Weak but determined to get back on his feet Rumi spoke to this writer on Sunday from hospital. `I was lucky. It didn't prove to be too serious an issue for my health. Early detection is very important for dengue. Luckily for me it showed up in my blood test. `

Reminiscing on Yash Chopra's shocking death by dengue fever Rumi says, `We share the same doctor, and he feels Yashji could've been saved by early detection. However he kept ignoring all the symptoms and just kept working. This negligence proved fatal at his age. `

Rumi hopes to be discharged from the hospital by Monday. `I haven't told anyone as I didn't want visitors in hospital. But the news has somehow spread. I am grateful to all those who are asking about my health. By the grace of God I am all right. `
