These Bollywood stars go social only to promote their films

Some stars seem to have no qualms about logging on to the social media only to promote their own professional causes

With social media breaking barriers between celebrities and the public, a lot of Bollywood folk take interest in making their presence felt online. From joining jaunty conversations to vitriolic debates, some stars don't shy away from even giving their fans a sneak-peek into their private lives from time to time.

On the contrary, there are a few, who make sudden appearances followed by quick vamoosing interestingly coinciding with the run-up to their release. Here's taking a look at the usual suspects...

Hrithik Roshan

If you visit his Twitter homepage, you'll notice hardly anything other than posts related to his next. There's almost zero interaction with fans. Hrithik has never been an active tweep but then, he seems more than active in making sure his superhero film gets as much traction as possible before its release in November.

Deepika Padukone

This beauty is not a chatterbox. She surfaces only when her film is about to hit the marquee. First it was Cocktail followed by Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and now, almost all her tweets are about her next co-starring Shah Rukh Khan.

Emraan Hashmi

His last post on the popular microblogging was on April 19. And predictably, it was about his last release Ek Thi Daayan. Interestingly, he stayed away from the digital platform and didn't go on a rampage promoting his latest film Ghanchakkar with Vidya Balan. Has he quit for good? Our guess is as good as yours.

Ajay Devgn

A look at his feed page and you'll know that Ajay is not a Twitter-friendly guy. He seldom posts more than five tweets a month but a majority of them are about his films. His last tweet was a trailer link for his upcoming Prakash Jha film. Period.

Madhuri Dixit

The dhak-dhak girl, with her transition to the small screen, has taken to the social media platform, full throttle. And it's difficult to find anything other than tweets featuring something or the other about her ongoing TV dance reality show. And predictably, zero interaction with fans.

The exceptions

Here are some of those from B-Town who seem to actually know a thing or two about social networking besides simply promoting their work. These folks are pure timepass and fun to follow:

Sonam Kapoor

Ram Gopal Varma

Farhan Akhtar

Sujoy Ghosh

Priyanka Chopra

Amitabh Bachchan

Anurag Kashyap

Shah Rukh Khan

Shekhar Kapur

Karan Johar

Bipasha Basu

Abhishek Bachchan

Randeep Hooda

Siddharth

Riteish Deshmukh

Anupam Kher
