The last offering from the enigmatic director Yash Chopra is the film Jab Tak Hain Jaan. The interest around the film started to build up from the start of the project and reached a high intensity after the untimely demise of Yash Chopra. The king Khan also returned to playing a romantic role after a long time. Shahrukh is a master and legend in playing romantic leads and naturally the fans were anxious to catch their favorite star on the big screen. The movie released with great fanfare across the lengths and breadths of India yesterday, on the festive occasion of Diwali.
The Big B was obviously impressed with the film and tweeted "Just back from YRF and the premier of the film 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan', followed by a party ... And the film... what can one do, or say about it ... each portion poetry, each artist at his and her best, and for Shah Rukh his best performance after 'Swades'." These are great words of encouragement from the legendary Amitabh Bachchan.
The master story teller of the tinsel town, Yash Chopra returned to directing a film after a long break of eight years and what a masterpiece he has weaved with the lead roles played by Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and energetic Anushka Sharma. This is a beautiful love story set in the present day backdrops and having the beautiful old world charm. Shahrukh plays the role of an army officer posted in Ladakh who is a bomb defusal expert. He hopes to be blown to smithereens on his job one day, however his wish remains elusive. Major Samar Anand is a heartbroken man who finds solace in his risky job. The man who taught million of Indian how to love is back in his elements again and even his age couldn’t take away the conviction of his performance with heroines half his age.
Katrina Kaif plays the role of Meera, a NRI who dreams to marry a ‘gora’ some day, but falls in love with Shahrukh as fate would have it. But they soon were separated by the same fate that brought them together. Heartbroken Shahrukh returns to India and joins the Indian army. A bubbly Akira Rai played by Anushka Sharma enters the life of lonely Samar Anand and falls in love with him.
The songs of the movie are good but don’t live up to the high expectation that we anticipate from the maestros A R Rahman and Gulzar working together.
Our rating for the movie is four and half out of five stars. This is a must watch movie and you already knew that if you are not watching this you are going to regret it.
