'Jab Tak Hain Jaan' and 'Son Of Sardar' to cross 100 crore mark

The most awaited films of the year, ‘Jab Tak hain Jaan’ and ‘Son of Sardaar’ saw grand releases this Diwali. Both the films released to the theatres on November 13th. After all the controversies about the release of the films on the same date, the opening day for both the films saw great response from the audience. It is expected that the movies are going to cross a collection of Rs. 100 crores in the box office.
The Yash Raj Film ‘Jab tak hain Jaan’ starring Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma got released in 2500 screens, and reporters confirmed that the film has already bagged an amount of Rs. 15.23 crores, from the entire country. Son of Sardaar, starring Ajay Devgan, Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha, was screened in 2000 theatres and has earned Rs. 10.72 crores in India.
Taran Adarsh, a trade analyst has claimed that this has been by far the best Diwali that Bollywood has seen. Reports confirm the fact that ‘Son of Sardaar’ has been found to be more popular among the mass than ‘Jab tak hain jaan’. However, in the multiplexes, ‘Jab tak hain jaan’ is further ahead than ‘Son of Sardaar’. When calculated on all India bases, ‘Jab tak Hain Jaan’ wins over ‘Son of sardaar’. However, on the whole, both the films are likely to be Box Office hits. This has been the most successful Diwali for the industry. The businesses of both the films have taken the Bollywood industry to a whole new level.
Hence, it is evident that both the films are doing extremely well at the theatres. Rajesh Thadani, who works at Multimedia Combines in Mumbai, has reported IANS that while ‘Son of Sardaar’ has taken a lead in the single screens in the country, ‘Jab Tak Hain Jaan’ is ruling over all the multiplexes. It is expected that ‘Son of Sardaar’ will catch up very soon with its competitor film.
Both the films saw great controversies on the eve of their release. However, the occasion of Diwali proved to be lucky for both as they saw more audience during the festive season. This brought in more money for the films. The expenses for making the films have been great. While ‘Jab tak hain jaan’s’ budget was Rs. 50 crore, ‘Son of Sardaar’ was made at Rs. 80 crore. The director of DT Cinemas, Anant Verma has reported that both the films will see huge audiences till Sunday.
