Akshay Kumar’s ‘Special 26’ earns 26 crore in the first weekend

Neeraj Pandey’s latest release ‘Special 26’ is indeed special. Akshay Kumar, Manoj Bajpai, Kajal Agarwal and Anupam Kher starrer ‘Special 26’ has won the hearts of the audience. Released on last Friday, 8th February, the film is doing exceptionally well at the box-office. Opening with positive reviews, the film has garnered 26 crore in the first weekend.
Trade analyst said that the film has earned 26.5 cr to 27 cr net in its opening weekend. Being Saturday and Sunday, the film showed a bounce. The film is doing a rocking business at the multiplexes. The break-up of the collection is like that - Rs. 7 crore on Friday, and showed a leap making approximately Rs. 9 crore on Saturday, and earning around Rs. 10.5 to 11 crore on Sunday.
But professionally, the collection was not so promising for Akshay Kumar as ‘Special 26’ has scored relatively lesser in comparison to ‘Rowdy Rathore’ and ‘Khildai 786’. Rowdy Rathore in 2011 opening weekend collection is Rs. 48.3 cr + nett in its first 3 days and Khiladi 786 earned over 33 crores approx over the first weekend.
Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Special 26’ got huge appreciation from critics and audience also gave thump-up to the film. It is said to be a well crafted film.
The film is based on a real life incident where con artists depicted as CBI officers and Income tax and raided many houses of the billionaires, politicians, businessman and walked away with crores.
