Plea withdrawn, Sanjay Dutt's jail time starts from tomorrow

Mumbai: Sanjay Dutt withdrew his plea of surrendering before the Yerwada jail directly, citing life threat from fundamentalists. He will be now be surrendering before the TADA court on Thursday.
Notably, the actor filed an application in the special TADA court on Tuesday pleading  to surrender before the Yerwada jail directly. In the petition, Sanjay claimed that 'terrorists have threatened to kill him in the court complex on May 16 if he appears before it'.
Taking cognisance of the plea, the court has asked the CBI to file its reply in the case. Matter has been adjourned till tomorrow.
Interestingly, the Supreme Court had earlier rejected a plea filed by two film producers seeking further extension of time to Sanjay Dutt to surrender. The producers had asked for more time so that he could complete two of their under-production films.
But refusing to accept their appeals, the court said today, "We had already said that no application for extension of time will be entertained."
Now Sanjay Dutt will have to surrender before jail authorities on May 16.
