Television actor Abir Goswami who acted in popular TV soaps like Kkusum and Pyaar Ka Dard Hai, has passed away Friday afternoon. Abir was in good health but suddenly he suffered heart arrest. He was in his mid 30s. He suffered a cardiac arrest while working out in a treadmill in a gym in Malad.
Abir Goswami was fit and fine and was busy working as usual, his colleagues informed. Actor Sayantani Ghosh, who has signed a Bengali film ‘Sakkhat’ opposite Abir Goswami said the she talked with him around 1: 15 pm in the afternoon.
"We were planning to go for a movie together, and around 3 p.m., I got a call about his death. He was quite healthy and that's what is more disturbing. It's truly shocking," she added.
Actress Smita Singh, who worked with Abir in Kkusum, was shocked to get the news of his sudden death.
"It is true, he is no more. I am really shocked at the news. He was hardly 33 or 34 years old. He was working out in the gym and suddenly got a cardiac arrest," Smita, who knew Abir since 2001, told IANS.
Abir had also been a part of shows like Hotel Kingston, Kumkum, Choti Maa, Badalte Rishton Ki Daastan and Ghar Aaja Pardesi.
On Thursday, Abir even tweeted about the sudden demise of ace Bengali filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh who died of cardiac arrest at 49. He expressed his shock and grief saying,"Rituda may ur soul RIP. I'm honoured to be touched by ur genius in this life," Abir had tweeted.
Abir also features in one of Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming films.
He was married only last year. Kashyap and Ronit Roy rushed to his home on hearing the news.
