Ajay does ‘Himmatwala’ as he feels it could be improved

A lot has been said about Sajid Khan

remaking the super hit movie of 1983, ‘Himmatwala’. The original movie starred Sridevi and Jeetendra in the lead roles and went on to become one of the biggest hits of their careers. When Sajid Khan decided to remake it, there were mixed reactions from the Bollywood industry.  The yester year heroine Sridevi commented that the flick is not a classic like ‘Mughal-e-Azam’, so it need not be remade. To this, the cast and crew reacted with that if it had been a classic, they would not have touched it. Sajid Khan also went on to say that it is more of a rewrite than a remake. The team believes that classics should not be remade since they are not equipped with the essentials required to remake a classic. As Ajay Devgn stated, "We would never try to attempt a Mughal-e-Azam, because we could never try to beat a Mughal-e-Azam. We can only do films which we have got the ingredients for and feel that we can better."
Being a die-hard fan of the 80s cinema, Sajid Khan knew that he had the passion and the ability to remake it in the best manner possible. Having kept a few scenes and songs alive from the old flick, the rest of the movie has been shot on a different scale. It was one of the random conversations that Sajid Khan and his lead actor, Ajay Devgn had earlier that initiated this movie. Being friends and hardcore Bollywood buffs, they decided to remake ‘Himmatwala’ back then, and for them it is like their dream come true.
Ajay is nervous before the release obviously, but also considering that he has been accepted by the viewers very gracefully in most roles, this one should not be any different. Being an entertaining flick, his audiences are sure to love him in this one as well.  Most of his recent hits have been from the comedy and action genre. Ajay’s next is ‘Satyagraha’, which has another feel altogether. Looking at the wide genre of films that Ajay Devgn has been accepting, there is no doubt that this one will be different as well.
On the other hand, Sajid Khan is very confident about his movie, simply because he believes in entertaining and again, he believes that ‘Himmatwala’ is all about entertainment. The songs are chirpy, the mood is chirpy, and the audiences will get complete worth for their money. It is almost like the movie will take you back to the 80s era, with all the styling, the clothing, the music, the dance moves etc. His movie is truly for the masses, by the masses and to the masses.
