Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani starrer 'Jolly LLB' drags controversy

The trailer of the recent upcoming movie, Jolly LLB, starring Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani and Saurabh Shukla, has been telecasted for a month now. At just one glance, one can easily mistake it for a normal comedy movie, here to make the audience laugh. In the trailer, Saurabh rebuked Arshad, out Jolly, for the miss spelt terms in his PIL report. He has termed prosecution as prostitution, and Appeal as Apple. However, this will not be a movie which would come as an amusing one for every audience.
The movie is scheduled to be released next week, on the 15^th of March. However, some of the lawyers of Meerut have moved the Delhi High Court carrying a petition which is against the coming out of the movie. The lawyers have claimed the fact that the scenes shown in the trailer are defamatory in nature and stand as ‘Contempt of Court’. Hence, they have asked the court not to let the film release at all. However, the Chief Justice of the High Court, Mr. D. Murugesan along with Justice V.K. Jain have turned down the reports saying that the release of the film cannot be stopped just on the basis of the trailer. The bench of the high court of Delhi has reported that it is just the matter of a trailer. It will be difficult for them to judge in its sole basis as they might not know about the entire content of the film. However, the final order regarding the plea has been reserved by the court.
Among the lawyers who have filed the case against the release of this film, is Chaudhary Charan Singh, who happens to a graduate from the Law College of Meerut. He has stated that the film is putting the courts and the lawyers of the country in a very low esteem in front of the audience as it shows the use of abusive languages in the court, which does not happen in reality. The lawyers have also claimed that the movie is going to put all the lawyers who have passed from the law college of Meerut in a derogatory position. They have also said that the film has violated Section 5B under the Cinematography Act that was issued by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. The advocate of the production house has appealed for the rejection of the plea as he said the scenes are just a creative portrayal of the maker and director. Jolly LLB - Movie Stills
