Why Celebs leave Twitter: A love-hate relationship in 140 characters

Shah Rukh Khan: He hasn't posted any tweet in the last two months. The buzz is that he got disillusioned following nasty comments posted on his Twitter page in the wake of the controversy over the article pertaining to his religion that he had written in a magazine.

Priyanka Chopra: She refrained from tweeting for a while last year after receiving nasty comments. Chopra however did not quit the site and returned, also explaining the reason for her absence while professing her love for all her fans

Aamir Khan: He has been inactive on Twitter for quite a few months now. He posted only one tweet in February, and his last tweet before that was in November last year, on the eve of Talaash's release. It has been learnt that, like SRK, even Aamir was bombarded with unsavoury posts on his account.

Imran Khan: He quit the microblogging site in 2010, just days before the promotion of his film, 'Break Ke Baad' was to begin. Khan stated that he quit Twitter as it was not the right medium for him

Lara Dutta: Like PeeCee, Dutta also was the victim of hate comments, and reduced her Twitter frequency subsequently, upset by some of the unwanted posts.

Amitabh Bachchan: Upset over the malfunctioning of the social networking site, Big B threatened to quit Twitter last year if the problems weren't rectified. Apparently, a number of his fans and followers had been facing problems commenting on his blog and Twitter account. Luckily for his fans, Bachchan stayed on after the glitch was sorted out

Saif Ali Khan: He's among the few Bollywood stars to have never joined the Twitter bandwagon.
