10 years after Devdas, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani set to release in Israel!

It might come as a surprise to many that since the 2002 film Devdas, no Bollywood film is said to have released in Israel.

But the jinx will soon be broken with Ranbir Kapor and Deepika Padukone starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani this Friday. The movie will appear with subtitles in Hebrew for the Israeli audience and will release on the same date in both India and Israel.

The Ayan Mukerji directed rom-com will be released by Eros International in Israel.

“There is a huge demand for these movies since Israelis and the local Indian population over there are fond of Indian content,” Kumar Ahuja, Eros International, said in a statement to DNA.

“Earlier, Bollywood content was available on DVDs and Indian channels, but this can very well be called the beginning of theatrical age of Hindi movies in Israel,” he added.

An Israeli distributor, Shai Motion Pictures has invested in a portable projector which has given them the ability to showcase pictures at different locations.

“We are looking forward to it. It is after a long gap, after ‘Devdas’, that any Indian movie will release here. This itself calls for celebration and we are anticipating good numbers,” said Shai Solomon of Shai Motion Pictures.
