‘Kahaani’ and ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’ were Rituparno Ghosh’s favorite films of mine : Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Renowned filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh passed away on Thursday morning when he suffered a cardiac arrest. One of leading directors in Indian cinema was just 49 years of age and was suffering from pancreatitis. It came as a shocker to the entire film fraternity. Nawazuddin Siddiqui too spoke exclusively to Dailybhaskar.com remembering the time he spent with him.

“ Rituparnoji and myself met in Kolkata and we went together to Delhi for the National award. I the had the honor to spend a lot of time with him. It’s a big loss to the nation as well as our industry that Rituparnoji is no more. At such a young age, he made some great films and had a completely different approach to cinema. Not everyone could reach out to his vision and it takes a lot of experience for a filmmaker to reach where he reached. He promise to work with me but guess that dream will never come true . He loved my films ‘Kahaani’ and ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’. He was a great soul.” Says Nawaz.
