Double standards: PC breaks her album contract to sing for an international film

Apparently, Priyanka Chopra broke her album contract to sing for an international film 'Planes'

Could this be a case of double standards? After turning down several singing offers in Bollywood, we hear the Priyanka Chopra has done the playback vocals for an international film titled Planes

Initially, sources close to PC had conveyed that the contract binding on the actress from her international label forbade her from singing for any movie.

A source says, `After listening to her singles, several offers to sing in Bollywood films came her way but Priyanka turned down all of them. On the other hand, the music label behind Planes and her international album are different.`

Devraj Sanyal, managing director of Universal Music states, `We own PC's musical life between Universal Music Goup, Interscope Records (a UMG) and some allied labels, all part of the UMG family. As a consortium and with her okay we have the ability to place her anywhere when the deal represents her best.

She is also managed by the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and the Atom Factory (Lady Gaga's artist management company), so it's complicated. But the one line party answer is that we do have rights to ensure she is singing in the right places for the right exposure.`

A friend of PC says, `It was not that she could not sing for a Bollywood film because she was under contract from her music label. But she could not perform live. Also the music company has many plans lined up with regards to her playback singing. In fact, Priyanka too has said that depending on the opportunity and the track in question, she would love to sing for a Bollywood film.`
