'I don't think I will make a good producer as I'm bad at doing business'

`I don`t think I will make a good producer as I`m bad at doing business`

In a free-wheeling chat, Ranveer Singh talks about exploring new horizons and how he wants people to remember his films

I started work on my upcoming Shaad Ali film on my birthday, which was a great way to kickstart the year ahead, " says Ranveer, who has some big releases to look forward to. In a free-wheeling interview, he talks to CS about appreciation, birthday celebrations and how he wants people to remember his films:

Time to celebrate
I will say that I am both delighted and humbled by the response that people have shown towards the film. The best compliment came from my friend Shanoo Sharma, who is a casting director. She knows me from the time I was 16, nursing the dream of becoming an actor.

She told me, "Ranveer, after watching the film I felt like I was reintroduced to you. I could only see your character, Varun in the entire film." It was truly touching as she is one of my best friends, and one of my best critics.

A perfect day
Normally, I am very melancholic on my birthday. I tend to spend the day thinking of the years gone by, and the one ahead. However, it wasn't so this time around. I had a productive day as I did some work for Shaad's film and also shot a small portion of my period film with Arjun Kapoor. Later on, I went to an orphanagee and spent some time with the kids.

Varied repertoire
I want to be a part of quality cinema, and not just films that rake in `100 crore at the box office. I want people to take home something after coming out of a Ranveer Singh film. I feel that the young generation of actors is unafraid to make choices.

Take Ranbir Kapoor for example. He's done a Rockstar and Barfi along with Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. It's great as films that would otherwise struggle to find a mainstream platform have greater opportunities as a big star is associated with them. I want to enjoy that kind of position in the next five years.

Exploring horizons
I don't think I will make a good producer as I'm bad at doing business. I can be a creative producer though. However, I do want to direct films. I am writing a couple of scripts. One of them is a popcorn film and the one is a story of an underdog. I bounced off my script with Vikramaditya (Motwane) and he liked it. That felt great!
