The crew of Neeraj Kabi's upcoming film was worried about the actor's health following drastic weight loss for his role
Neeraj Kabi's upcoming film, directed by Anand Gandhi, portrays him as an ailing monk. The actor was told to lose weight for his role almost 17 kgs. However, his team members were quite worried about Neeraj, fearing that the 40-year-old's drastic weight loss would pose bigger health issues for him.
A unit hand says, `For Ship of Theseus, Neeraj needed to lose weight quickly. After doing his research, Anand realised that the only way that was possible was by taking slimming medication. But we were not in favour of it as it could adversely affect his health. We finally consulted a dietician who helped Neeraj shed the kilos.`
Apparently, the weight loss took such a toll on the now-56 kgs actor that he even had to cancel his other acting workshops and film offers that were coming his way. And according to Neeraj, it was no mean thing to drive away his hunger pangs. He says, `Sometimes I couldn't sleep because of the hunger.
I was racked by fear that I would damage my body. What really kept me going was knowing that this was a once-in-a-lifetime role. If I was 25, I could have taken a lot many risks with my body. But at this age, one's vital organs can be easily affected by sudden weight loss.`
