Rakeysh Mehra and Sonam Kapoor to Work Together Third Time

Director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has plans to cast Sonam Kapoor in his next project. This is going to be the third association between actress Sonam Kapoor and film maker Rakeysh Mehra.
The movie is going to be a period movie and would be a love story. The film would be titled ‘Mirza Sahiban’. “We’re working on the script, trying to polish it as much as we can. But yes, that’s my next one.” says Rakeysh. In this movie Sonam will play the lead character and she will be seen in a substantial role unlike her earlier roles in Rakeysh’s films. Rakeysh said that the actress was destined for bigger things.
Sonam appeared in Rakeysh’s directed movies viz. ‘Delhi 6’ and ‘Bhag Milkha Bhag’. In both of these movies, the actress had little to offer. Both the movies were male protagonist movies. This is the reason for Rakeysh to cast her one more time. He feels that the actress has lots of potential but she didn’t get opportunity to unleash them in his movies.
‘Bhag Milkha Bhag’ is releasing today and Sonam, who appeared in a cameo, he is quite satisfied with her acting. She was happy to do a small but impactful role.
Rakeysh said, “Sonam, like everyone else got associated with ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ because she believed in it. I mean, look at the man. We grew up reading about Milkha Singh. Stories about him are part of folklore. Sonam knew it was not a lengthy role. But she knew her role would have an impact.”
Sonam said, “I just felt like I was doing a service to my country. It was a service to all the sports people out there. I feel that sports has not been given the right kind of push it should get. This will encourage sportsmen and it will help people to take up sports.”
Sonam added, “I have a 15 to 20 minutes role, but I feel like I'm blessed to be a part of it.”
Even director Rakeysh Mehra appeared in a cameo in ‘Bhag Milkha Bhag’. There is a scene in the movie when Milkha Singh (Farhan Akhtar) flies for the first time and he gets panicked. Rakeysh (pilot of the aeroplane) comes out of cockpit and pacifies Milkha. When asked about his acting, Rakeysh laughed and said, “Nobody noticed but I was also in the last scene of ‘Rang De Basanti’ as young Bhagat Singh’s father.”
