Finding uncanny similarities between suicides of the model who ended her life in 2010 and the Bollywood actor, officials will look at former's case files to avoid repeating the same mistakes

Juhu police officers who are investigating the alleged suicide by actress Jiah Khan have been asked by their seniors to study the case of model Viveka Babajee, who had also committed suicide, and ensure that mistakes that were made during initial investigations are not repeated again.

Investigating officers are now revisiting the old case, and dusting off the files of Viveka Babajee, the model who committed suicide at her Bandra residence in June 2010. Babajee too, had hanged herself similar to the way Jiah Khan committed suicide at her Juhu residence.

Cops finding similarities between the two cases - the depression, work struggles and the problems in their personal lives - have decided to look back and learn from the past case. Just as they had gone through Babajee's diary after which they called a number of people for questioning including her ex-boyfriend Gautam Vora, the authorities will scour through Jiah's notes and other correspondence.

Both Jiah Khan and Viveka Babajee were from the glamour industry, suffering from depression and had trouble in their personal lives.

`We have asked cyber crime experts to decode Jiah's Facebook and Twitter accounts to get more insights into her thoughts,` said Vishwas Nangre-Patil, additional commissioner of police (West region).

The Juhu police have also recorded the statements of eight people - her mother Rabiya Amin, Aditya and Sooraj Pancholi, their domestic help Deva, friends Karan, Kartik, Neelu and yesteryear actress Anju Mahendru. Sooraj, who was in a relationship with her, was also questioned by the cops, but according to them, there is no direct evidence to book him for abetment of suicide.

`We have recorded Mahendru's statement and also the statement by Jiah's friend Kartik, with whom she had gone to Hyderabad for an audition on Saturday morning. Sooraj told us he had not met Jiah on Monday but the two had met on Sunday night,` added Nangre-Patil.

Previous attempt
Investigations revealed that Jiah was suffering from depression and had suicidal tendencies. Jiah had tried to commit suicide by slitting her wrists seven months ago. Sooraj Pancholi, her boyfriend and his domestic help Deva, thwarted her attempt.

She slit her wrist with a blade and then called Sooraj who was in Worli. He asked his domestic help Deva and his friend Karan to rush over to Jiah. Immediately the two took her to a doctor and saved her. `This has been confirmed by Sooraj, Deva and the doctor who had treated her. Jiah was also consuming anti depressants but was not under any treatment,` said an officer.

Authorities said that on the day Jiah committed suicide, her mother had gone to visit Anju Mahendru at 8.30 pm. Meanwhile, Aditya Pancholi, who is a friend of the family, also met up with them, following which Rabiya went home to find her daughter's body hanging from the fan. Rabiya called up Mahendru. She rushed to the spot and called up the police.
