Ranveer Singh copies Dev Anand's look in 'Lootera'

Dev Anand inspires the high energy newbie actor Ranveer Singh for his role in his upcoming movie Lootera. Ranveer Singh is the new buzzword of Bollywood who has given super hits like Band Baaja Baaraat (2010) and Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl(2011). In both these movies, Ranveer’s character was that of a care free hunk who exuded fun and charm.
His upcoming film, Lootera is a period movie, set in 1950’s directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. The movie is inspired by O.Henry’s ‘The Last Leaf’. The film is an intense and epic love story of two lovers who go through a lot of turbulence. Ranveer plays the character of an archaeologist who is young and pensive.
For playing such an intense and powerful role, Ranveer was made to attend classes to learn the act of emoting though eyes. As a part of these classes, he was suggested to watch Dev Anand’s movies like Guide, Jewel Thief and Heera Panna where the actor expressed a lot through the eyes. As such, the legendary actor Dev Anand was known for his expressive eyes.
From the sets of Lootera, the spokes person said,” Lootera is a tribute to 50s. We have styled our romance on Dev Anand. When Ranveer was signed for Lootera, there were a few changes that he needed to employ in his acting. Being a period film, the movie demanded Ranveer to emote with his eyes. And being a director’s actor, he took up the challenge by attending workshops and watching Dev Anand's movies”. The spokesperson further adds,” Ranveer prepared for a long time and when he finally began shooting, the director was really happy with his work”.
Bollywood Lead actress Sonakshi Sinha will be seen opposite Ranveer Singh in this movie. Since the movie is a tribute to 1950’s, most of the film is shot in the dreamy hill station of Dalhausi and between the hustles and bustles of old time Kolkata. Both the actors also took workshops to learn Bengali culture and its influence. In an interview, Sonakshi said,”   "I play a Bengali girl. It's an authentic Bengali look of the fifties that I am sporting and they (the director and designer Subarna) have taken a lot of trouble to go through the kind of clothes, jewellery, hair and make-up done in that era”. This is the second movie for the acclaimed director Vikramaditya Motwane after his critically applauded debut movie ‘Udaan’ which was released in 2010.The movie will be released all over India on 5th July,2013. Be ready to watch this emotional romantic drama that will leave you touched this July.
