At 12am noon, Bollywood couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor became officially husband and wife. They were sealed with a registry marriage held at Saif’s Bandra residence. The marriage was attended by Saif and Kareena’s close family members and friends. After the wedding, Mr and Mrs Saif Ali Khan waved to the large crowds and media persons who desperately waited for a glimpse of the newly wedded couple.
After the registry marriage at noon, the duo geared up for the second part of the wedding, the nikaah, marriage as per Muslim tradition. Kareena Kapoor wore the wedding outfit gharara of her mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore and said ‘kubool hai’ in a Muslim manner. Saif wore a brocade achkandesigned by designer Raghavendra Rathore. Close friend and designer Manish Malhotra and his team helped Kareena to get ready for the nikaah.
The nikaah took place at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel in Mumbai and was attended by close friends and family members. Sharmila Tagore, Kareena’s parents Randhir and Babita Kapoor signed the witness paper.
Superstar Shahrukh Khan wished the newlyweds, tweeting: "Happiest marriage bond to my friend Saif Kareena. May Allah keep ur fam?ly healthy, happy. Just saw it is registered, sealed & delivered."
Kareena’s ex-boyfriend Shahid Kapoor also wished the duo a happy married life and hope that Kareena continues acting post marriage. Saif and Kareena dated for five years until they entered into matrimony today. Their sangeet and mehendi remained a private affair. Only few close ones graced the occasion.
Two post-wedding functions are scheduled to take place tomorrow at Pataudi Palace and the next a grand reception in Delhi.
