Aishwarya to step into Rakhi's shoes for ‘Bemisal’ remake

According to the latest grapevine, filmmaker Karan Johar is keen to remake the yesteryear blockbuster ‘Bemisal’ and he is interested to cast Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the female lead. After the birth of Aaradhya, Aishwarya has gained oodles of weight and put acting at the backburner but now that Aaradhya is growing up, Ash thought to resume acting and what better than Karan’s movie.
‘Bemisal’ stars Vinod Mehra, Rakhi and Amitabh Bachchan in the pivotal role. The movie speaks about loyalty, sacrifice and revenge and the music of the film was composed by RD Burman. Karan Johar is keen to remake the hit film of the 80’s.
Aishwarya who was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Guzaarish’ also expressed her desire to return to acting and recently, she said in an interview that she is reading scripts and soon she will sign one. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has not worked with Karan Johar before and if she sign the film then this would be her first film with Karan.
A source told a leading daily, “Karan Johar wants to remake Bemisal. We're not sure whether or not he will direct the movie himself, but he has been thinking about remaking it at some point.  Karan has been thinking about casting Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to play Rakhi's character from the original. In fact, he is in talks with Aishwarya."
The source further added, "She has been away from films for a while (she last acted in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Guzaarish, 2010), and we haven't heard of a conformation yet from her end. But if all goes well, we will hopefully see her return to the big screen with this."
It is not yet known who will play the role portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan and Vinod Mehra.
