B-town pays tribute and regards to Yash Chopra



Yash Chopra’r untimely demise left the B-town stirred and shaken. The legend was suffering due to the ailment caused by the deadly virus ‘dengue’, and later succumbed to multiple organ failure. He was diagnosed with dengue on 21st of October and was immediately admitted at the Lilavati Hospital.
Yash Chopra was known for his movies like Kabhie Kabhi, Trishul, Noorie, Kala Pathar, Mashaal, Vijay, Chandni, Lamhe, Darr, DDLJ, Dil toh Pagal Hai and Veer Zaara. Jab Tak hai Jaan being his latest and the last film. The list does not end here; he has many more such iconic movies in his basket, to his credit.
This 80 yr old veteran was a film director, a screen writer and a producer at the same time. With a career span of more than five decades, he is one among the leading filmmakers in the history of Bollywood. His Directorial debut was in the year 1959 with Dhool Ka Phool. After working on a few more movies like Dharmaputra and Waqt, Chopra opened his own Production Company, ‘Yash Raj Films’ that is one of the biggest film production companies of India.
Chopra’s films and thoughts set the standards, his movies like Trishul, Kala Pathar and Vijay created the cult of action films that ended with Chandni and returned the romantic and soft hearted musicals in Bollywood.
Romance was a topic in Bollywood that got a new look with Yashji pitching in. DDLJ –Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge was a movie that created such hype and was loved so much that it is still among the favorites of many. He gave a new angle to romance with his movies like Daag, Kabhi Kabhie, Silsila, Chandni, and Dil Toh Pagal Hai and his own all time favourite Lamhe.
The sudden death of the legend brought tears to many. The ‘Chautha’, fourth day ritual after the cremation ceremony was held at the Yash Raj Studio’s in order to pay tribute and respect to him.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, Subhash Ghai, Mahesh Bhatt, Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Amisha Patel, Anushka Sharma, Boney Kapoor, Pankaj Udhas, Farah Khan, Javed Akhtar, Juhi Chawla, Ashutosh Gowariker, Zoya Akhtar, Ramesh Taurani, Ranveer Singh and many more.
Yash ji was busy with his last movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan all this while and had completed the schedule except for one last song that will never be made due to his absence. The movie is to be released on 13th of Nov, which is on Diwali.
