The king of comedy Jaspal Bhatti was cremated in Chandigarh yesterday amidst thousands of fans. The nation mourns as Jaspal Bhatti left us so early. His sudden demise left a vacant in the world of comedy. Mr Bhatti met with a road accident on 24thOctober in the wee hours. He was traveling from Bhatinda to Jalandhar for the promotion of his upcoming movie 'Power Cut'. His son Jasraj was driving the car. He too was critically injured but doctors discharged him to perform the last rites of his father.
Jasraj lit the pyre of Jaspal Bhatti as thousand of mourners attended the cremation. Politicians, theatre and film personalities, fans reached his Sector 19 residence to pay their last tribute.
"The king of comedy has left everyone in tears. He did not deserve this," said one of his close associates said at the cremation ground.
Bhatti’s Honda Accord car had rammed into a tree at the national highway. He was taken to the hospital immediately where the doctors declared him dead. Bhatti’s latest film, ‘Power Cut’ will release today and his son Jasraj will launch the movie.
His TV shows "Ulta-Pulta" and "Flop Show" on national television was a hit show of the 80’ and 90’s. He also directed a film "Mahaul Theek Hai", a spoof on the police, administration and society, in 1999.
Bhatti 57 is survived by wife Savita Bhatti, son Jasraj and daughter Raabiya.
