Comedian Jaspal Bhatti dies in a road accident



Famous comedian Jaspal Bhatti died in a road accident early morning today. The accident took place near Jalandhar.

57 year old Bhatti’s car hit the trawler near Shahkot in Nakodar area of the district around 1 am, Mr Bhatti's associate Vinod Sharma informs. Mr Jaspal Bhatti was going from Bhatinda to Jhalandar for the promotion of his Punjabi film ‘Power Cut’ slated to release tomorrow.
Jaspal Bhatti’s son Jasraj was driving the car and they were accompanied by the film’s heroine Suril Gautam. Mr Bhatti died on the spot while his son and the heroine were badly injured and were rushed to the Jalandhar hospital.

Sharma informs that Mr Bhatti was traveling for few days for the promotion of his movie. His body will be brought to Chandigarh for the cremation after completion of various legal formalities, including post-mortem, he said.

Jaspal Bhatti left behind his wife Savita and a son and a daughter. Mr Bhatti is best known for his television series ‘Flop Show’ and ‘Ulta Pulta’, which were a hit in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
He starred in few Hindi films also. He was seen with Aamir Khan and Kajol in ‘Fanaa’ where he played the role of a guard named Jolly Good Singh.

He also played the role of a principal in ‘Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe’ and was seen in Punjabi film ‘Jijaji’.

He was graduated from Punjab Engineering College in Chandigarh in electrical engineering and had worked as a cartoonist with a reputed media house before venturing into TV.
