Heroines making comebacks in Bollywood

The shelf-life of actresses was limited in the Hindi Film Industry. Once they crossed the age of 30, it was considered that their prime was gone. They were utilised only in supportive and inconsequential roles like that of a mother or sister.
However, in recent times the outlook towards actresses has undergone a radical change. Today, they are not only given pivotal roles in the films, they are also thought of having the capacity of carrying a film to being a blockbuster on their own. Hence there is a rise in the number of films like “Raaz 3”, “The Dirty Picture”, and “Heroine”.

Another change that is noticed is the acceptance of a comeback by a heroine. Those days when it was difficult for a heroine to make a comeback past her prime is over. Today they are accepted and how. Let us take a look at such few cases-

Karisma Kapoor-
She got married in 2003 to businessman Sanjay Kapur and thus chose to stay away from films. She was in her peak when she left the film industry. She tried her hands at the small screen by judging a comedy show and “Nach Baliye”. She recently did a film called “Dangerous Ishqq”. The film bombed at the box-office but people did take notice the effort.

Sridevi-
The woman who ruled the hearts of men when was in the pinnacle of success was she. She is ready for a comeback this October with “English Vinglish” which is directed by R. Balki’s Gauri Shinde. The films promos look promising and we hope the film is successful.

Raveena Tandon-
She was a glamorous woman of the 90s. She has been a part of many successful movies. After her marriage she stayed away from films. She made her comeback in films with “Bbuddha hoga tera Baap” which tanked at the box-office. Despite that there is no doubt about her talent. She also hosted “It’s my Life” successfully.

Madhuri Dixit-
The girl who can make men and women alike skip a beat is she. She is known for her beautiful smile and her dancing and acting skills. She married Dr. Nene and settled in USA. She made her comeback with the Yash Raj film “Aaja Nachle” which was dance-centric however, the film though looked promising could not be a hit because of the weak plot. She then turned to the small screen. She judged the fourth and fifth season of “Jhalak Dikhla Jaa” which had high trps due to her. She is now preparing for the sequel to “Ishqiya” called “Dedh Ishqiya”.

Preity Zinta-
The girl, who is known for her bubbly and chirpy self, got involved in the T20 cricket and bid adieu to films. She then hosted her own show on UTV Stars called “Up Close and Personal with PZ” where she interviewed her friends for Bollywood. Now she is gearing for her comeback in films with “Ishkq in Paris”. We are pinning our hopes on this film.

Juhi Chawla-
She is somebody who knows the kinds of films that the audience will like to see her in. She is not meant for commercial cinema any longer. Thus she chooses off-beat films and floors the audience with her power-packed performances.

Ameesha Patel-
Ameesha has not been a successful actress like the others in this list. Her relationship with her parents and her love-life has been nerve-wracking and thus her film career never quiet took off. But the rumours that is doing the rounds is that she is all set to act in a film that will be produced by her own banner.
